The Opportunity

Mueller Communications is seeking a part-time Manager of People to own the full employee experience at our firm from the moment a candidate first hears about Mueller through every milestone of their career with us. This is a multi-faceted role for someone who wants to help identify, recruit, retain and support a growing, talented and diverse team.

Reporting directly to our Co-CEOs, you’ll be a trusted advisor to firm leadership and a steady, caring presence for every person on our team.

What you'll be doing

TALENT ACQUISITION & ONBOARDING
  • Own the full recruiting lifecycle: sourcing, screening, interviewing and extending offers for open roles across the firm
  • Build and maintain relationships with universities, professional associations and other talent pipelines
  • Design and lead a thoughtful onboarding experience so every new hire feels prepared, welcomed and set up to succeed
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
  • Administer our performance management system and lead the annual and mid-year review cycles
  • Support managers in delivering clear, constructive feedback and in calibrating performance across the firm
  • Help maintain and evolve job descriptions and career-level expectations as the firm grows
CULTURE & ENGAGEMENT
  • Serve as a steward of Mueller’s culture, values and employee engagement
  • Participate in a team that plans and executes recognition moments (anniversaries, promotions, life milestones) that make people feel seen
  • Keep a pulse on team morale, and proactively flag and address concerns before they become problems
HR OPERATIONS & COMPLIANCE
  • Manage day-to-day HR operations, including compensation administration and benefits coordination, in partnership with our PEO
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure the firm stays current on employment law and best practices
  • Serve as a confidential, trusted resource for staff questions and concerns

QUALIFICATIONS THAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT

  • 7-10+ years of experience in HR, people operations, or talent management (agency or professional services experience is a plus)
  • A genuine passion for helping people grow and do their best work
  • Strong emotional intelligence, discretion and the judgment to know when to guide, when to listen and when to act
  • Excellent organizational skills and comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with HRIS / performance management platforms is a plus
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
