Mueller prepared for and launched a comprehensive, high-touch communications effort, working with the municipality to develop key messages to use when meeting with homeowners and residents and training teams of canvassers to carry out the plan. Each team consisted of a city official and a Mueller Communications staffer to canvas the neighborhood and make individualized contact with each resident, and was armed with key messages and handouts needed to answer all resident questions and address all resident concerns. Additionally, we had contracts available to provide immediate permission for testing access.
The team was prepared for immediate testing to determine if there was an imminent danger, and plans for alternate housing if unsafe levels were detected.
Additionally, Mueller developed standby media materials for use if a member of the media learned about the issue. Spokespeople were prepared, and Mueller monitored traditional and social media for potential stories.
