Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM)

Public Education Campaign

In October 2016, Mueller Communications was selected from a Request for Proposals (RFP) process to provide public relations and marketing services for Milwaukee’s Choice Neighborhood Initiative (CNI). CNI is an effort led by the City of Milwaukee and the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM) to build on a Choice Neighborhoods grant awarded to Milwaukee by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and implemented with the support of a wide range of public and private partners. The vision of the project is to transform Westlawn – Milwaukee’s largest public housing project – and the surrounding neighborhood in northwest Milwaukee into an inclusive community of opportunity with quality housing, schools, businesses, services, and amenities where people choose to live, learn, work, shop and play.


Mueller Communications’ involvement with the project has been extensive. Mueller Communications worked with HACM to develop the core messaging for the project as well as to develop the CNI website, monthly e-newsletter and social media platforms. We also assisted with the launch of a steering committee for the group. Mueller Communications has worked closely with project partners and neighborhood leaders to promote the project and community events taking place in the CNI area, generating significant local attention, including through numerous stories in print, broadcast, radio and online media.


In January 2018, HACM retained Mueller Communications to assist in their efforts to raise funds to build a splash pad in the CNI area. This related, but additional, project demonstrates Mueller Communications’ broad range of expertise and the trust our clients have in our abilities to solve problems and achieve results.
